What is Bloom?
Pure beeswax will develop a soft patina, known as "bloom," which over time will give the candle a dusty appearance. This patina is evidence of the purity of the beeswax used to make our candles. The bloom naturally develops with age and exposure to cooler temperatures. To restore the luster of your candles, simply polish them with a soft cloth or use a hair dryer to remove the bloom.
Burning Properties & Qualities
In general, beeswax candles burn brighter, longer and cleaner than other candles. As long as you burn your beeswax candles in a controlled environment and away from drafts, your candles should not drip. Beeswax candles will consume all of the beeswax as it burns. Never pour excess beeswax off of your candle! By pouring off any excess beeswax your candle may not burn as long or will eventually not burn at all.
Under normal conditions, you may expect the following burn times or better:
Tapers
The base size of our tapers is 1 inch; therefore, to fit some candle holders, trimming of the base may be required.
Votives & Tealights
Beeswax Votives should always be burned in a small container that closely surrounds the candle. In addition, Votives and Tealights should always have a pool of liquid wax covering the top of the candle before extinguishing. By doing so, your candle will burn down completely and not tunnel.
Pillars
Beeswax Pillars should have a pool of liquid wax within approximately 1/4" of the rim before extinguishing. You may need to burn your pillar up to 2 hours before extinguishing. Once the flame is out, gently press the soft outer rim inward.
Also, maintain your pillars while burning them, for long periods of time, by gently pressing the soft outer rim of wax inward, being careful not to push inward too close to the flame. This will allow your pillar to burn evenly for hours of enjoyment.
Burning Tips
Please follow the candle safety tips below whenever burning your candles:
Flame Properties
An interesting fact about pure beeswax candles is that the flame that is produced when burning a beeswax candle emits negative ions. These negative ions attach to positive ions (impurities in the air), making them heavy and dropping them to the floor, thus help to clean the air.
Fragrances
Some of the fragrances in our products are 100% pure essential oils. They will be marked as E.O. behind the product name.
If our product uses a "fragrance oil" we then use a 100% concentrated fragrance oil made in the United States. These fragrances may or may not have small amounts of essential oils mixed in them.
The company we purchase all of our fragrance oils from complies with the strictest global Research Institute for Fragrance Materials (RIFM) and International Fragrance Association (IFRA) standards. Fragrances are composed of natural essential oils, aroma chemicals, and other functional components in compliance with the most recent guidelines published by IFRA.
Fragrances we purchase are formulated based on safety assessments made by the Panel of Experts of the RIFM and are carefully reviewed by the IFRA Scientific Committee and comply with RIFM standards.
